After explaining the expanded definition of “accessory” and its importance, here are the five compliance steps under AB 1263 for the industry members selling in California:
☑️ Provide a clear legal notice about illegal, unlicensed manufacturing
☑️ Require an affirmative acknowledgment at checkout, such as a box to click
☑️ Verify age and identity for buyers 18 and older
☑️ Deliver products directly to the purchaser
☑️ Obtain an adult signature with ID verification upon delivery
The main challenge is that the law requires a specific type of ID-verified delivery, which is not widely available as a commercial service right now. This has already led to enforcement issues and legal challenges. ⚠️
If you make, distribute, sell, or ship firearm-related products to California, the new laws apply to you, even if you do not have an FFL.

We still ship legal products to California. To do this, we ask for an ID upload, check age and identity, match shipping addresses, use verified delivery when possible, and offer FFL (local gun shop) shipment if online requirements are not met.
Following the law does not mean we agree with it, but ignoring it can put companies and our community at risk. Watch out for the next videos in this series.
