Apparently my husband can’t even walk into the shop anymore without the voices in his head starting a full-blown musical.

He just texted me:

“Babe, every time I walk in the shop and see these butterflies, the creative voices in my head AKA Perry and Gabby the Goose (characters from his children's story book he is currently writting) start singing ‘Butterfly in the Sky... I can go twice as high… take a look its in a book, a reading rainbow' and now I wanna read a book, drink an ice-cold sweet tea, and just relax.”

Sir.

You were supposed to be WORKING.

But apparently Perry said it’s story time, Gabby started the theme music, the butterflies set the mood, and now this man is mentally checked out with a book and a glass of sweet tea.

At this point, I’m not even sure we own Homemade Haven anymore.

We’re here with so many amazing local makers, including Hunnies Cake Treats with their incredible German Chocolate cakes, Schroeder Farms and their tasty sourdough goodies, and 3D Printed Farm Mercantile with some really cool Halloween items and a few of which may be coming home with us to decorate Homemade Haven!

We absolutely love little markets like this. You come to sell a few goodies, meet some amazing people, support other small businesses… and somehow leave with a truck load of stuff yourself!

Our little CEO had an important business meeting tonight...

He marched up to Dad and said, "We need to order more brownies and juice boxes."

Dad asked, "Why?"

Without missing a beat, he replied, "So I have an afternoon snack after I get done running around the playground all day... then I can work on the store's numbers."

Apparently that's how successful businesses are run these days:

1. Conquer the playground.
2. Refuel with brownies and a juice box.
3. Review sales reports.

Honestly... we can't argue with the strategy. We may have to add "CEO Snack Budget" to next month's expenses.

Living with my husband is basically a never-ending game of, "Why are we talking about this?"

Completely out of nowhere today, he stops what he's doing, looks at me with a serious face, and asks...

"Would you rather sneeze glitter or hiccup bubbles?"

Sir... we have bills to pay, shelves to stock, and a business to run... and THIS is the emergency meeting we're having?

After way too much discussion, we still couldn't agree.

So now it's your turn...

Meet the Brownie Monster!

We all know the Cookie Monster... but have you met the Brownie Monster hiding behind the yellow door at Homemade Haven?

His name is Jaxson, and if you hand him one of the amazing brownies from Just Do Cupcakes, you might want to keep your fingers out of the way. Blink once, and the brownie is gone. Blink twice, and he's already asking, "Do we have another one?"

We're pretty sure our baker has accidentally created a tiny brownie addict... and honestly, we can't blame him. They're rich, fudgy, homemade, and absolutely irresistible.
