In 1971, Congress declared August 26th as Women’s Equality Day, a day to commemorate passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution - granting women the right to vote. This amendment was first introduced in 1878 and passed decades later, in 1920 - though even then, not all American women were included.

We still have a ways to go toward full gender protections. There are those in this country espousing the view that women's vote should be repealed… & they should defer to men. And, an ad this past weekend by a major golf manufacturer showing a woman thrown to the ground & verbally attacked is unconscionable. 😠

In many places around the world, women are still treated as 2nd class citizens (or worse)… they are victimized by trafficking, sexual exploitation & oppression.
