With water temperatures remaining stable this past week not much has changed on the lake. Temperatures are in the upper 80's over most of the lake and water clarity is high. An early topwater bite on points and rocky shorelines is a good starting point with a buzzbait or walking bait. Long running points and humps are productive with topwater throughout the morning hours. A deeper bite with a dropshot or texas rig on drop-offs/ledges will work in depths out to 40' or so. Shallow water anglers can target bream bed patterns with a worm or popper. With boat traffic and high temperatures we are entering a slower time of year for the next few weeks.

With the heat wave still continuing, water temperatures have risen to the upper 80's to low 90's over most of the lake. Mid 80's can be found north of the Highway 11 bridge and water clarity remains very high on the main body. An early bite on points continues with a topwater lure and that bite will last an hour or so at first light. Some wolf packs of fish are cruising shorelines and docks chasing bream and that is the best shallow pattern although some fish can also be caught off the deeper docks in the shade with soft plastics. For fish out deeper, the spotted bass are moving deeper in the heat and will often be found out on deeper points and around any structure in 30+ feet of water. A dropshot can be used to target these fish. Some fish are in even deeper water suspending over ledges and creek channels in 50+ feet of water. These fish can be targeted with the dropshot also or a jigging spoon. Boat traffic is heavy on the lake on the weekends so early morning or night fishing is the best alternative then.

Water temperatures on the lake are generally in the low to mid 80's with high 70's found north of the Highway 11 bridge. An excellent top water bite with soft or hard swimbaits continues off long points, humps, and over any structure. Deeper fish can be targeted with a drop shot or other soft plastic. A shallow bream bed bite can be productive for bigger fish and large mouth. Overall, fishing remains very good on the lake although boat traffic is heavy by mid day, especially on the weekends.

With cool nights this past week, water temperatures have held steady on the lake in the upper 70's to low 80's. Clarity remains very high on the main lake. Fish are largely in an early summer pattern with a good early morning bite on points and back in long coves with a topwater bait. The topwater bite is productive all day on main lake points and around brush. Shallower fish can be targeted around bream beds and docks with soft plastics or poppers. Deeper fish on points and humps can be targeted with a dropshot and a 4 or 6" worm. Overall, fishing remains very good on the lake.

Most fish are now post spawn. An early bite on points with a small crankbait or topwater is productive. A good topwater bite can be found over long points and brush piles - this pattern is productive all day. Another option is soft plastics in the same areas in 15+' of water.

Water temperatures are now in the 70's with clarity extremely high. Fishing is very good with a significant herring spawn pattern being the best bet. An early bite on points is developing with small crankbaits or a topwater or spinner bait. After the sun gets up, focus on long points with topwater for great action throughout the day.
