We would like to thank everyone in the community that donates items to resell in our Thrift Store. They are truly the lifeblood of our organization because it helps us pay the overhead in our facility and purchase food for the Food Pantry.
As we have posted on the doors, we ask that you never leave anything when we aren’t there to take it inside. It is against Seneca City Ordinance 215530 and you could receive a fine. We may not get the donation due to theft, or it may be ruined by the weather and be ruined and overfill our trash, costing us sorely needed funds to dispose of it.
With one exception, all of our workers are of retirement age and older. When people bring donations in huge boxes, black trash bags loaded to the brim with heavy clothing or the black giant contractor trash bags, most of our workers and volunteers can’t lift them at all and do well to even drag them. Please don’t bring donations in anything heavier than you would want your Mother or Grandmother to have to lift please.
And especially don’t leave merchandise on the Pantry dock. It’s disruptive to our Food Pantry Service to come in early in the morning and try to get ready for a food delivery and find the loading dock full of heavy merchandise that often shouldn’t have been left at all, and have to impose on volunteers to haul away heavy items that we don’t accept. Someone left a big, heavy upholstered chair that we don’t accept blocking our Pantry door recently and we had to call in a volunteer with a truck to load it in the rain and haul it to the dump because there was a delivery and we had no place to put it and a neighborhood cat had sprayed it.
Following is a list of items that we CAN’T accept as donations.
1. Broken or damaged toys
2. Damaged purses or shoes
3. NO mattresses or large pieces of furniture.
4. NO Clothing that is wet, dirty or smells of mildew or animal f***s or urine (Do unto others)
5. NO Computers, Printers, Keyboards, Televisions, Speakers, and other large Electronics that we have no room for a d no way to test and can’t warranty.
6. NO books that have been stored and are mildewed, damaged, etc. If it’s something you wouldn’t want to buy, please don’t ask us to sell it to others.
7. NO medical equipment, braces, crutches, etc. You might check with Seneca House or the Medical Loan Closet.
We welcome both Adult and Children’s Diapers.
8. NO bulky exercise or weight lifting equipment. We don’t have the room to display in the store or the manpower to lift and load into someone’s car for them.
Again, we thank you for your kind and thoughtful donations! Thank you for partnering with us in our ministry to the Seneca Community to feed the hungry!
Your support is always appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!! YOU CAN TOO!!!

We can’t let April Volunteer Month pass without bragging on our wonderful volunteers donating their time, talents and treasures, starting with our Board of Directors, some serving for twenty years or longer; Cyndi Hutchings, Michael Steele, Darren King, Russ Ginger, Barbara Noah and David Camerer.
Sorting magicians and fashion consultants include the fabulous Susan Marsh, Darla Crowder, Barbara Noah (she is so good she does double-duty!), Sandi Simpson, Maria Keck, Donna Barber, Sandy Hunt , and Alli Camerer
Unloading trucks, stocking the Pantry, building carts, cleaning, sweeping and mopping the floors, assisting Neighbors with food carry out, Is there anything that these fierce, faithful and strong Pantry Volunteers can’t do? We haven’t found it yet! They are Canaan Vermillion, Russ Ginger (another double-duty helper like Barb Noah on the Board, as is:) Dave Camerer, Randy Green, Kevin Conrad, and Brad Mattivi.
So many of our volunteers just pitch in and help out with whatever needs to be done, and we all work together because what we do matters to the people and families we serve here in this community.
If you would like to join our team, come in and see Nikki or Kathy and we will get you started on your journey of friendship, caring and service to others.

April is Volunteer Month - Volunteers Make Seneca the Best Community to Call Home!

We would like to challenge everyone who is able: If you have an extra 2-3 hours a week to donate to help a family receive wholesome food on their table, come to the Seneca Food Pantry, fill out a Volunteer Application, and we will find a place for you to serve the Seneca Community with us helping out, if possible!
We could use sorting help with our donations, and help in many other areas except for the Pantry at this time. Volunteers touch lives in so many ways, often in ways they may not see personally but very meaningful nonetheless. Stop by the store Tuesday through Friday 9-4 and get an application from Nikki or Kathy if you are age 14 or older.

If your church youth group is looking for a service project, stop in and visit with us - we have several projects that we have been trying to complete but time hasn’t allowed during our normal days operations.

Someone once said ,”We make a living with the wages we earn. We make a life by what we give to others.” Our time is one of the most precious gifts we can give to anyone!
