Some previews are back from Mandy & TJ’s wedding at The Crossvines , and I couldn’t wait to share them. Mandy knew exactly what she wanted: a color-filled arch, bouquet, and centerpieces paired with all-white bridesmaids’ bouquets. The contrast was simple, but it made her bouquet stand out the moment she walked down the aisle.

Lilies have always been her favorite flower, so we built the entire design around them, mixing in vibrant orchids, roses, touches of blue delphinium, and plenty of texture throughout.

One thing I love about weddings is that every couple has a different vision. Sometimes the smallest design decision—like keeping the bridesmaids’ bouquets all white—can have the biggest impact. I can’t wait to see the rest of the gallery. Brittany Dunbar ⭐️

I love when local businesses come full circle. These flowers were harvested last night from a garden designed and grown by Healing Energy Ecoscapes and are decorating CafeMezzanotte private event tonight.

I asked Kevin how he grows zinnias this healthy, expecting some elaborate secret. His answer “Cardboard sheet mulch and compost.”

Three years of building healthy soil and letting nature do the rest. It’s a philosophy I love because it’s about working with nature, not against it—and it pairs so well with Cafe Mezzanotte’s commitment to thoughtfully sourced ingredients and supporting local growers.

🍅 These tomatoes started one of the biggest conversations I’ve ever had online…

I wanted to finally share the story here on Instagram. Quick clarification: In this video I accidentally say Aztec, but the story is actually associated with Mayan seeds connected to the Cave of the Jaguar God near Chichén Itzá.

Years ago, I was gifted one of these tomatoes after a horticulturist successfully grew plants from seeds connected to that discovery. I’ve been saving the seeds and growing them ever since because the flavor is unlike anything I’ve tasted.

🌱 They’re finally available. Ancient Tomato seeds are live in my Etsy shop and currently on sale.

Something has been on my mind lately…. The floral industry has given me so much over the past few years, and one thing I’ve realized is that some of the best conversations happen when the cameras are off.

Conversations about contracts. About pricing. About wholesalers. About mistakes. About burnout. About the wins that nobody sees coming.

When I got off the phone with Danie from Dandelions Flower Stand 🌼✨ , she said something that really stuck with me:

“Instagram only shows the good stuff.”

She’s right. Beautiful weddings are worth celebrating, but they’re only part of the story. So I’m starting a new series called Behind the Blooms—honest conversations with florists I admire about what it really takes to build a floral business.

A good friend asked me, “Aren’t you worried about sending brides to other florists?” Honestly… no. I believe there’s room for all of us to grow, and I think our industry gets stronger when we share what we’ve learned instead of keeping it to ourselves.

Nature never stops amazing me. I love taking one flower and seeing it in a completely different way. Once the petals come off an echinacea, you’re left with this incredible spiral of texture that adds so much movement and that wild, just-picked-from-the-garden feel I’m always chasing in my designs.

Fun fact: Echinacea gets its name from the Greek word echinos, meaning “hedgehog.” The second I learned that, I couldn’t unsee it. Now I know why it’s also referred to as coneflower.

One of my favorite parts of wedding days isn’t just the finished flowers—it’s everything that happens before the guests arrive. At one point I caught myself saying, “Grab some behind-the-scenes footage,” and our amazing design & camera assistant replied, “Okay, I’m just going to follow you.” 💪

Because these are the moments I want to remember: carrying buckets of flowers, making last-minute adjustments, watching an empty space slowly come to life, and seeing months of planning turn into one beautiful day.

Whether it’s a ceremony installation, a floral cloud, or a dramatic entrance, one intentional statement often has more impact than dozens of small arrangements scattered throughout a venue.

I love helping couples figure out where those moments should be.

One of my favorite ceremony designs to date.

At Birkby House the bride & grooms family built these beautiful wooden pedestals, and instead of one large floral installation, we framed the ceremony with two overflowing garden-inspired arrangements. I love how they create a focal point without taking attention away from the couple. Designed with trailing smilax, tall larkspur, lush peonies, vibrant roses & daises … & plenty of movement.

Looking back, this wedding reminds me how much I love creating florals that enhance a space rather than overwhelm it. The couple embraced the idea that less can be more, and that trust helped create a ceremony that still feels timeless against that brick backdrop.

Today I still design with the same philosophy… flowers should frame your story… not steal the spotlight. ✨
