I am grateful to have had a quiet summer- no rushing, no running around and while unbearably hot sometimes, it almost forced us to just sit and be still.

Soon, yellow school buses will be making their routes through neighborhoods and freshly sharpened yellow pencils will be busily writing and drawing and adding numbers.

🌞🌼

As summer begins its lazy exit, I look forward to the entrance of the fall season - weddings, celebrations of babies and brides and everything in between. So many good things are in store!

Independence Day feels weird this year.

Flag cakes, parades, patriotic decorations, ❤️🤍💙 everywhere - I love it all! But today, I’m really searching for more.

Let’s take a few minutes today and think about what celebrating the 4th of July really means. It’s not really about the cookout or fireworks - it’s about the conversations that need to be had.

However you are choosing to spend the day 🇺🇸🍔🍉💥let’s celebrate hope!

Legend has it that John Adams and his wife Abigail enjoyed celebrating Independence Day with New England fare, including turtle soup, poached salmon, green peas and boiled potatoes. Yum?

I’ve got to be honest here…I hesitated for a good long while about whether to use this photo. Would I appear to be just another small business jumping on the Pride Month 🌈 bandwagon?

June is filled with support for the LGTBQ+ community, but soon the 🌈 products in stores will be replaced with 🇺🇸 and 💥. In educating myself about how to be an ally, I know my support must be visible beyond June and I will strive to make a difference.

Posh Plates Vintage has the distinct pleasure to be a part of so many special occasions and they’re all based in love. What a honor.

I am proud to be an LGTBQ+ friendly small business.

It’s the last day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the UK - have you been watching?

As many of you know, my mom was British and I have lots of family there. In fact, my mom is the reason behind Posh Plates! 🥰

My mom, who grew up in Windsor, was part of a scouting group for older girls called Sea Rangers. They had their meetings at Windsor Castle and…the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were also part of the group! I know - it’s a whole story!!!

The festivities in London over the past few days have been spectacular in every way. I have been watching here, across the pond, with amazement, joy and love for this country that is so much of who I am.

Last weekend Rudy of .settings created the most beautiful “Bridgerton meets LoveShackFancy” birthday party picnic and Posh Plates had the distinct pleasure of being part of it!

I don’t think I need to convince anyone here of the timeless elegance of the classic color combination of blue and white!

But, did you know this popular color scheme is steeped in history? According to Kelly Porter, a contributor to , “This classic color palette dates back to the ninth century, when cobalt blue pigments were used to create motifs on white pottery and porcelain in China. During the 18th. century, blue and white printed fabrics began popping up in France.”

One can’t talk about blue and white without mentioning Blue Willow!! This pattern has such an long and interesting history.
