Filming a brand new Chasing History episode!!!!
"Your Local Museum" Series! We've been dying to start a series called "Your Local Museum " for years and today we filmed the 1st episode!!!
- In our travels around the world we always stop at small, out of the way, local museums and they are always EPIC!!!!! With some of the coolest and unique artifacts and stories to tell and every one has a passionate local Historian or group who safeguards a communities history. And for YEARS we have been wanting to do this. So we did!!
- With our buddy Matthew Harrell as Camera Man, we stopped at the Tucumcari Historical Museum in Tucumcari New Mexico and met with Local Historian Bill Moore. Mr. Moore has been active in preserving Tucumcari's History for over 50 years and WHAT A HISTORY!!!
- Starting as the Rail Road Ragtown of Six Shooter Sighting..... (Yeah thats Wild West as hell) 😄 🤣
In 1901 Tucumcari became a Stop and Repair hub for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific or the "Rock Island Line" of Johnny Cash Fame. The area also has a rich Spanish Colonial and Native American Story as well as that of Wild West ranches and cowboys, pioneers and homesteaders!!!! We get into the story of the area in the episode so we won't spoil it here but let's just say it is AWESOME!!!!!
- History doesn't happen on some far-flung Battlefield or Historic home across the country. The single most important history is local history!!! It's the history of your town the history of your area and YOUR history!!!! THE HISTORY THAT MATTERS!!! Our hope with this series is that we shine a light on the importance of local history to the American Story, in hopes of inspiring people to not only care about their local history but get involved!
- Museums are often hubs of a community, a community that is in jeopardy of being lost forever in the 21st century. Our hope is to make local history and the caretakers of that history popular again, to inspire us to care about our local story, and in turn, care about our neighbors and our own home. This is the very first episode of a series that we are sure we will be doing until the day we die and we LOVE THAT!!!
- History is everywhere!! And we urge you guys to go visit your local museum and let us know in the comments the names of some good ones to visit!!
