Every now and again a new path in a journey that you have taken a thousand times before just appears ,and this is how "The Ocean Alchemist" came to be. Being an avid surfcaster for the 25 years that I lived on Long Island, I spent countless hours with eyes glued to the water, looking for any sign of the striped bass lurking underneath, casting a lure in hope of enticing one to strike. One day I t
ook my girlfriend who would soon become my wife with me. Typically when one brings his girl with the hope of impressing her with his ability to fish there are no fish around that day..So we sat down on the sandy beach. She reached down between us and picked up a surf worn marble. Our love for sea glass was born and soon I didn't bring a fishing rod on our walks any more. We collected sea glass for 10 years together. A treasure created over time by the tides , the surf , sand and stones , and the salt water itself. The alchemy of the ocean, turning man's cast away waste into a jewel. I use many of the pieces that we found in my work. I also have an appreciation for the wonderful colors of sea glass from other parts of the world so I source those as well to use in my pieces. I made many creations for my wife and still make each one as if a gift for her. It's a love affair that I now share with you.
