ABOUT ME:
Michelle Nicole Gordon
CODE NAME: Shimmershell
Growing up in Anthony New Mexico, I watched my Mother paint her imagination. I watched my father create anything out of my mothers imagination. I helped both of them all my life taking things out of their imagination and making into a reality. They were repurposing and recycling furniture and decorative pieces before it was "cool". I
moved to Shawnee, KS when I was 21 years old. My first job was being the activity and art director for a recreation center for the elderly and disabled. This was a wonderful job, but they closed. Had to find a new avenue which entailed working with people one on one. Found it, but after years and years of being a very successful banker at US Bank, my legs grew anxious. But I discovered I was good at sales. Went into outside sells, selling oil for a company out of Texas called Certified laboratories. Went thru a 7 year marriage that I finally got out of but was blessed with two wild heathens. Being a single parent, I couldn't handle the long work hours and being a single woman in the oil industry was degrading. I left and went back to my roots. I worked for Sunflower Adult Daycare in Kansas City KS for three years. I taught the clients that as long as they had imagination, anything was possible. They could be ABLE to do a whole lot of things! I taught them that they can take something old and rusty, chipped and scraped, busted and ugly and make it beautiful and useful again. We would slick up old things and we would share the profits. I was able to chase after my small heathens without restrictions. Wasn't long before Medicaid made cuts and their funding went out the door. I was lost. Didn't know what to do. I had to have a job the allowed my creative side, my caring side, my selling side, and my momma side coincide! So I decided to take my talents my parents taught me and run with them. WHAT I DO TO KEEP A ROOF OVER OUR HEADS:
I decided to be a picker and a fixer and a seller of forgotten and neglected high quality items. I do my treasure hunting and fixing while my wild heathens are at school. I teach them how to do it all like my parents had when I was little. I teach them that life isn't about waiting for a hand out. Life is making something out of nothing. I teach them to strive and be ambitious. I teach them to let their imagination guide them. WHERE I FIND THE TREASURES:
I have no pride. I climb thru old barns, abandoned houses, ally ways, thrift stores, and pull over and load up anything that cries out for me on the side of the road upon first glimpse. I get it home and soak them down with straight alcohol to kill anything that might have attacked them and clean them up. AFTERLIFE'S:
I can touch anything and make it beautiful again. I can see the beauty in everything. When I create something I know I am making it for someone special. I can feel its energy and know what it wants to be in this new life. The right person always finds it. (or does it find them?)
ART:
I do a couple of different motifs. I sand everything down and look at the grain of the wood. I can see the colors radiate out of it. Like an aura. My momma always told me I was a sensitive since I was little. I see energy. I see colors radiate out of everything. I use a self made concoction of wood stain with. I use only my hands to do these aura blasts and they get stained for days if not weeks on end. I love it! Connects me to the piece. Each piece feels charged with energy when I'm done. Then I clear coat it or glass glaze it in so it lasts forever. Chairs are also a favorite of mine. I love to play with fabric. I love to make handsome little chairs that can light up a whole room just my sitting in the corner. A chair in a room makes it feel inviting to come all the way in. Never underestimate the power of a little accent chair. CUSTOM??? Why yes! Yes I do! You pick the color of the body and which top color aura blast you see and I'll make it happen. You can pick from one of my raw pieces or bring in your own. CONTACT INFO:
