We're kicking off the month with our second community art critique on the 10th at 1pm, where artists can come together to inspire and learn from each other.

If you have ever looked at fonts you will recognize "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." It's a sentence that shows every letter in the alphabet, showing off the type face before using it in a design.

Join .nack.art in exploring the wonderfully unforgiving world of reduction printmaking!

Using just one block, you’ll carve and print your image in stages, adding a new layer of color as you go. By the end, you’ll have a small edition of colorful prints and a block you can never print the same way again, which is half the fun!

No printmaking experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

A little behind the scenes for Custom Framing Day!

There is so much that goes into a frame before you see the finished piece. Measuring, cutting mats, mounting artwork, fitting everything together, cleaning the glass, chasing down that ONE tiny speck of dust that somehow keeps coming back… and making sure everything looks just right before it leaves the shop.

And Sarah is the one making all that magic happen. She has such a good eye for putting everything together and takes so much care with every piece that comes across her framing table.

Custom framing is definitely one of those things where you don’t always see all the work that happens behind the scenes, so we wanted to give you a little peek at the process and show off Sarah doing what she does best.

Next time you pick up a finished frame, just know there was probably a lot of measuring, fussing, cleaning, adjusting, and staring at it from different angles before it made its way to you.

Have you tried AMACO’s Chocolate Clays yet?

They come in White, Milk, and Dark Chocolate, but the color isn’t the only thing that makes these clays interesting.

They’re thixotropic, which is a fancy way of saying they might feel a little firm after they’ve been sitting, but once you wedge, handle, or “shock” the clay, it softens up and becomes easier to work with.

They’re also smooth, manganese-free stoneware bodies, and each of the three colors gives you a completely different starting point for glazes and surface decoration.

So if you open a bag and think, “huh, this feels a little firm…” give it a good wedge and see what happens!

We have all three Chocolate Clays in the shop.

We've been asked why we named our shop after the character &. While we have this on our website we thought today would be a perfect day to share it on socials!

What does that mean to us? When we were naming the shop we wanted to be inclusive of what we thought represented the creative community. We understand that being creative isn’t limited to one medium or style. When given the opportunity to explore and use as many of the tools and materials available there’s a potential for new and exciting work. When we think about our shop we want it to serve artists & makers & creatives of all kinds, and out of that idea the shop is growing and finding its place in the creative community.
