I get GOBS of questions about simmer pots and ingredients so I'll share 3 of my favorite combos!

Simmer pots are a great natural way to fragrance your home. I personally love to use a mini crock pot because a) leaving things set on a hot stove is weird to me and b) less electricity.

They're also perfect for:
- Gifts! Teacher, house warming, neighborly, etc. Simple, inexpensive, super effective.
- Farmstands & farmers markets
- Boutiques

Tips:
- Bags (ALL SORTS) can be found on Amazon
- Make sure your ingredients are DRY. They can mold and you never want to share that! Make your own, buy them, whatever you do - make sure they are 100% dehydrated.
- I love to use a thermal printer for ease of .. well, everything. If you don't have a thermal printer, onlinelabels is my next favorite place. They offer lots of types for laser and inkjet.

Recipes:
» Citrus Lavender: Orange, lemon peel, lavender, rose, chamomile

» Porch Swing: Mint, ginger, cinnamon stick, grapefruit, lemon

» Summer Market: Hibiscus, grapefruit, cinnamon, & cardamom

The prettiest brew you'll ever make

Hibiscus, peppermint, Tulsi tea

1 tbsp dried hibiscus
1 tbsp dried peppermint
1 tbsp dried tulsi
32 oz filtered water
Optional: honey, maple syrup, or lemon juice

Steep herbs in hot water for 15-20 minutes, strain and sip warm, or steep overnight in the fridge for a cooler option.

Anyone else start their seeds hydroponically? For the last few years Ive started most of my transplants in my hydroponic set up, then move them out when we're free of frost (though you never really know around here). I dont have racks, grow lights, or a heated green house..and ive found that this method saves the pain of the major temperature swings we get in early spring. When transplanting i usually give them a nice deep water and cover them with burlap or a frost blanket during the peak hours of the day for a few days, then after that, its survival of the fittest.

Chamomile season! Im a sucker for a prolific self seeder that has a million and one uses.

Struggle growing chamomile? It THRIVES on neglect. These are planted in loose soil and haven't been watered once aside from the little rain we get in SE idaho. Also, the more you harvest, the more they bloom.
