25 years later and this day is burned in my mind. 50 years in EMS and this is remains my one and only real trigger. I was on duty, sitting in my station in Stamford Connecticut, on a beautiful crisp, clear day and watched the South Tower on TV, on fire and then seeing the second plane hit the North Tower. I'll never forget the feeling of helplessness that I felt watching the tower come down and knowing that there were folks like me that went to help that would never be coming home.
