i LOVE when nature defies its own rules🤓📐🌎
Some of you have been waiting since Tucson for these, and I’m here to say it’s finally TIMEEEE!
Say hello to the gorgeous helictite cave calcites from Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. They are a rare, gravity defying cave formation of calcium carbonate in different forms, calcite or aragonite.
Unlike typical stalactites which grown downward with gravity, helictites like to grow how they please🧶 twisting, curling, branching, connecting, even growing sideways and upward, all made popular through everyone’s favorite grade school science term: capillary action 😆💧
Mineral rich water is pulled and pushed through tiny capillary tubes depositing calcium carbonate at the tip little by little, eventually resulting in these crazy formations.
We sourced a very unique group of these at Tucson earlier this year, but I was waiting for spooky season to unveil them, because something about them is giving mermaid + spooky szn at the same time😆🧜♀️
These also do my fave little magic trick- PHOSPHORESCENCE! Under UV, they glow, but even when the light is removed, they retain their glow briefly!
tiny cave formations that are both geologically special AND glow in the dark? sign me all the way up😆🧜♀️💧🌎
available sunday 10.11 at 6pm et during our live show!
“see” you then!
