It has been nearly three years since we closed our doors. Just yesterday someone asked if I’m still making candy. To be loved for so long is a joy that can’t be put in words. I’m in the process of purging the file boxes which means I also find treasures. In 2011, a class in Georgetown led by a student named Kylee wrote me a letter. I also found a personal note from a customer in Mississippi that was written to me let me know they’d survived Katrina. I’ve kept this page alive so that I can promote a commemorative cookbook I will someday write. I suppose that’s why I’ve held on to these items, as well.

Congratulations 2018 graduates. Many, many, many of the young adults graduating tonight in Gonzales, as well as those who have finished at St. Paul and those who will graduate next week at Shiner High grew up frequenting the shop when we were in business. Among those graduating, a certain cookies and cream loving kid who always left drips all over the store, a young man whose mom especially loved gummi sharks and sour gummi worms, and an athlete that likes chocolate almost as much as me.

Happy New Year! Last year's plan to publish a recipe book of favorites from our shop and Sandwiches and Such remains a New Year's resolution. Meanwhile, Natalie has taken on a new endeavor -Elva Jane's Stitchery. If you could take the time to like the fb page, your help in spreading the word is appreciated!

Update: anyone interested in information about or being involved at any level in the establishment of the disaster relief center in Shiner please come to our meeting at 6:30 this Tuesday the 5th at Shiner Central Station. If you are unable to make it and would like to be involved please just let me know. Please share! The primary focus is to be central communication point to match those who can give to those who are in need. We do not intend to be a storage or warehouse but a pass through for relief. This will involve long term planning.

A flying monster to take away some fear...the girls and I are boxing up stuffed animals left from the shop to give to those kiddos who have been evacuated. This box is headed to Gonzales if you know of other locations that would like to receive them please message me here and I'll figure out how to get to you.
