Friends and Family…

This past month we gave Saturdays another chance. Not because we had to, but because we wanted to. Our heart was to offer one more opportunity for our community to gather, to shop and to experience the little things that make Pops & Gigi’s more than just a storefront. The shelves were stocked, the candles were burning and the doors stood open. Our hope was simple. An extra day might bring the steady rhythm a small shop needs.

But the truth revealed itself quickly. Saturdays did not bring the steady foot traffic a small shop must have to survive. And here is the reality. Likes on Facebook cannot keep the lights on. Shares online do not pay the rent. Kind words in passing cannot sustain a storefront. The only thing that keeps a shop alive is people choosing to walk through the door.

Because of the lack of foot traffic, Pops & Gigi’s will return to ONE dedicated in-store shopping day each week.

Now the question is…which day should it be? Fridays have always been our anchor, but ball games and family schedules sometimes pull people away. Some of you have suggested that Thursdays might better serve the community. We are listening. We are asking. And we want to hear from you.

And just so there is no confusion…let us be clear. Pops & Gigi’s is blessed and thriving. We are not closing and we are not struggling. We are choosing wisely what we do with our time. Both of us work full time in health care and our family continues to grow (5 grandchildren now) which means more little ones to love and more moments we do not want to miss. We cannot take away time from them if the hours at the shop are not being used effectively or supported by customers walking through the door. That is simply common sense.

Please remember this isn’t only about our store. Shopping local matters. When you step into Pops & Gigi’s or any small shop you are doing more than buying a candle, a dress or a piece of jewelry. You are choosing to keep Pike Street alive. You are choosing to keep the lights on in businesses run by your neighbors, friends and family. You are choosing to keep money circulating right here in Shinnston instead of sending it to a big-box chain or an online giant that will never know your name.

Every visit you make is more than a transaction. It is a vote for small-town shops to survive and thrive. It is a way of saying our community still matters, our downtown streets are still worth walking and our traditions are still worth keeping. Without that mindset, little towns fade. With it, they flourish.

So help us decide…Thursday or Friday. Your voice matters, and we promise that whichever day it becomes will always be worth your visit, your time and your support.

✨ Harvest of Hope ✨

There is a verse in the Bible that still speaks with power today.

“You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to your poor and your needy in your land.” ~ Deuteronomy 15:11

This is not a suggestion. It is not a gentle encouragement. It is the voice of the Father commanding His people to live with open hands, to resist selfishness and to extend generosity to those in need.

At Pops & Gigi’s, we cannot ignore that call. From the beginning, we believed our shop was more than shelves and sales...but that it would become a platform. A place the Father could use to extend His reach beyond what we could accomplish on our own.

Then came the questions that stirred our hearts...

From those questions, Harvest of Hope was born.

In fact, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to feeding the hungry and caring for the poor.
