Couple of things to remember about this ruling.

1. This is not a federal court ruling as of now. Nothing changes in the eyes of the NFA. The decision has been issued a 7 day stay so the government can decide if they will appeal or not.
2. This by NO MEANS bypasses the NFA Act and allows for the non-regulated sale of suppressors or SBR’s.

Stay informed and keep an eye on this as it could change in the coming weeks. This is a big development. It’s not a change in the existing law as of now.

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the National Fi****ms Act (NFA) no longer applies to suppressors and other items whose taxes were reduced to $0 in July 2025.

United States District Judge James Wesley Hendrix of the Northern District of Texas, a Trump appointee, granted a motion for summary judgement from attorneys representing the Silencer Shop Foundation Wednesday. In the 66-page opinion, Hendrix said that because taxes on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns and other items had been reduced to $0 by legislation signed by President Donald Trump in July 2025, the registration and paperwork imposed by the NFA exceeded Congress’ authority under the taxation power.

There are moments in life that you work toward for years, and today is one of those moments for me.

I’m proud to share that National Jewelry is now part of the Discount Jewelry & Loan family.

For a long time, I’ve had a tremendous amount of respect for what the previous owners built. They earned the trust of this community over many years, and I don’t take lightly the responsibility of carrying that forward.

When I bought Discount Jewelry & Loan, my goal wasn’t just to own a pawn shop. It was to build a business that treats people the right way, takes care of its team, and gives back to the community. Bringing these two businesses together is another step toward that vision.

To all of National’s clients, welcome. Some things will change over time, but the most important things won’t. You’ll still be treated with honesty, respect, and fairness every time you walk through the door.

To the previous owners, thank you for trusting us with something you’ve poured so much of your lives into. We appreciate everything you’ve done for Shreveport and for the people you’ve served.

The last time for this one. 😞😞😞😞😞

The day after she turned 18 she came to work for me. She has been here ever since. She has become part of my family and I can’t describe what she is to us at Discount Jewelry and Loan. It felt like I was losing a daughter leaving today.

She has been with me since the day I bought this shop. She has been through every single change(I know there’s been a lot of them). She has stuck with me through every crazy idea.
She has stuck with me through literally buying storage units to have inventory to sell.
She has been there through good and bad.
Now we get to support her through her next chapter in life. She may be moving four hours away, but she will still be a huge part of our family here.

Please wish Nevaeh and Thomas luck in their new adventure as they head to Baton Rouge for law school. I want to be selfish and keep her here, but the world knows they are so much bigger than this place.

Good luck to you guys. We are rooting for you. We are praying for you. We are here when you need us.
