The Anatomy of a Room

Every detail tells a story—from artwork collected during the homeowners’ travels around the world to thoughtful touches that pay homage to local artists and the husband’s Texas roots. Rich layers of pattern and texture create a space that feels deeply personal, while accent colors were thoughtfully pulled from the mosaic carpet to tie the entire room together. The Anatomy of a Room | Lake House Edition

A lake house should feel like an escape-relaxed, welcoming, and ready to be enjoyed.

For this project, we brought the beauty of Louisiana indoors with locally inspired patterns and artwork, while layering in fresh blues and greens to create a light, airy atmosphere. Much of the existing furniture was reupholstered, giving beloved pieces a fresh new life without sacrificing comfort or character.

The best part? Every fabric was thoughtfully selected to stand up to lake life-durable enough for wet swimsuits, family gatherings, and weekends full of memories, while still feeling beautiful and timeless.

A space designed to be lived in, loved, and enjoyed for years to come.

This week’s installment highlights a family’s living room and the power of thoughtful updates. By replacing dark, rich reds and heavy wood tones with light, airy blues and greens, the entire space was transformed. Sometimes, the biggest impact comes from the simplest changes—fresh fabrics, a softer color palette, and a new perspective can make a room feel brighter, more inviting, and perfectly suited for everyday living.
