The purpose of this public announcement is to notify Sierra Vista Community and surrounding communities that La Salida del Sol Lions Club will be closing “The Market/Swap Meet” on Saturday, May 28th, 2022. The La Salida del Sol Lions started the Swap Meet on January 7, 1989, as our main fundraiser. In fact, La Salida del Sol club is the only Lions club that ran a fundraiser 52 weeks a year for 48 years; no other club holds this distinction. This decision was not easy for our club but due to changes over the last 10 years in our membership but also changes with economics the market/swap meet has become an expense and not a fundraiser.

The La Salida del Sol Lions appreciate the vendors who came to sell their goods all these years and the community that came out to the Market/Swap Meet. If not for the vendors and community we would not have been able to charter Boy Scout Pack 408 for 47 years, provide children of the community with eye exams and glasses but also other charities in our community over the last 48 years. Although we are closing the Market/Swap Meet this is not the end for our club. We still have the ability to support children with eyecare and charter Pack 408 in addition to other wonderful Charities within our community.
