Rough Country Outdoor Gear has been a passion for Ron Cook since he dreamed of it in 1995.
This building has been in his family since 1980. When his mom was in high school it was an A&W Rootbeer, after A&W closed Ron’s grandfather bought the building. Due to certain circumstances his mom bought the building from her dad and turned it into Cook’s Choice and Shear Reflections Beauty Salon in 1989.
Ron’s parents decided that Cook’s Choice which was a Mexican Restaurant should be turned into The 50’s Café, a 50’s themed hamburger joint in 1994. After the closing of The 50’s Café in 1996 half of the building was then obtained by Ron and he turned it into Rough Country Outdoor Gear.
When Ron first opened his doors in 1997, inventory contained archery, camping and fishing— to
include an archery shooting range.
Over the past 27 years Ron has made numerous changes for growth and satisfaction for the sporting community. 1999-2001 Ron expanded into boots, clothes, fi****ms and ammo. In 2012 he shut down Shear Reflections and remodeled the building to be one large store. Since remodeling the building, he has been able to expand the inventory into camping, boating goods, boots, clothing, bows, safes, fi****ms, ammo, optics, targets, fishing gear and more.
In the years to come, he hopes to expand inventory to satisfy you the customer even more. A big appreciation to the customers that have kept the store going over the last 27 (almost 28) years.
