I see so many posts in Facebook Groups asking for help understanding knuckling. Knuckling occurs when a puppy is not receiving proper nutrition, especially a giant breed puppy. This problem is easily corrected by changing to an appropriate food, adding a vitamin C supplement, and making sure the puppy has soft surfaces to walk on. What is really scary is how many vets do not understand this condition and recommend surgery! "The Great Dane Lady" has a lot of great information on knuckling and how to treat it. She was a certified nutritionist and even helped develop puppy food to avoid these issues. We use one of her foods, Hollistic Select Giant Breed Puppy and have never had a puppy knuckle.
