✨ Fact Friday ✨

Don’t judge a frit by its unfired color!

Some System 82 colors look nearly identical in their unfired powder form, but the kiln reveals an entirely different story.

That’s why fired color samples are so helpful when choosing your palette. What you see in the jar isn’t always what you’ll get!

Did any of these surprise you?

The mystery is finally solved! It’s a jellyfish!! 🪼

This was Haylie’s first time making one, and we think she did a pretty incredible job. The kiln may get some credit, but bringing all those pieces together took plenty of patience, problem-solving, and people work, too. 🩵

We love seeing what can happen when someone is willing to try something new and let the process unfold.

Did you guess correctly?

Created with System 82 Float Glass.

Haylie had never made one of these before; just figuring it out layer by layer and we’re excited to follow along with her. 🩵

You don’t have to know exactly what you’re doing before you start! You just have to be willing to begin. Every artist had to start somewhere.

Any guesses what she’s making?

We’ll show you how it turned out next week!

✨Fact Friday✨

That glow isn’t magic… it’s tin!

One side of float glass sits in molten tin during manufacturing, leaving a thin layer of tin on that surface. A UV tin checker makes that side glow, helping us quickly identify which side is which.

Does it always matter? Not always, but for certain colors (especially our Amber) and specific techniques, knowing the tin side can make a noticeable difference in your results.

✨Fact Friday ✨

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that powder work has to be complicated.

With many systems, artists rely on hairspray, glue, or multiple layers of powder to keep everything in place.

System 82 Float Glass behaves differently.

Because the powder is heavier, you can often use a fraction of the materials while achieving strong coverage and vibrant saturation.

As Lisa says, you can sift it on, pick it up, and even give it a little twirl without everything falling off.
