Some of you probably know this already, but last week we had two days and two nights of torrential rain that tore up the railroad tracks forcing the D&SNGRR to end its Silverton season early. No more trains although they are running half way to Cascade Canyon. The store will be open this week from 11 until 2. My last day will be Saturday, Oct. 31. I still have Yvonne Lashmett's 2027 D&S calendar ($12.95). Call me at 970-946-0491 if you want one. I can mail it.

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's depressing. Today someone stole a very nice $200 turquoise Navajo ring from the store. It's a ring everyone likes and everyone puts on. This time someone didn't take it off, but walked right out the door wearing it. If you see anyone flashing a woman's ring with a big turquoise stone let me know and I'll inform law enforcement.

Last train to Silverton is today, Saturday, Nov. 1. Thanks to everyone for another great year. I'll be open for a few days before Christmas and on weekends if something is going on in town. Other than that, not much. See you next spring.
