Shop local is not just ad campaign, it's a reminder to give back to the businesses that represent your community
Itâs 5:30am.. we donât open for another 90 minutesâŚ
Whatâs your local small business owner up to you ask? If you guessed NOT sleeping, ding ding, you win! đ
After hours of trying to rest my brain and body, I finally decided to make the best of it, and head in to make myself a bucket drink for the day. I might as well accomplish something out of nothing, right? đ Cheers! âď¸
If youâve ever wondered what itâs like to own your own small business, this is it. Constant exhaustion, followed by no sleep.
Because your brain just canât rest.
Donât get me wrong, most days are the best! Especially around here. We serve ice cream and coffee, what could be so stressful about that? But seriously, seeing my friends and family walk through the doors, chatting with my favorite customers and new friends that Iâve made here, planning community events and happenings, celebrating birthdays, and weddings, and anniversaries, and watching families grow and kids grow up, helping someone find that perfect gift for that special someone⌠those are just a few of the good things that we enjoy every day!
But let me tell you, owning a small business is tough! One day youâre super busy, the next day hardly nobody walks through the door..and you wonder if anyoneâs ever going to walk through that door again. Itâs a constant, (albeit irrational) fear. Yet I promise any business owner you ask has had the same worry, at least at some point.
Itâs a constant struggle of staying relevant in a world where the trends change so quickly and trying to keep up is a job all in itself. Just when you think youâre on board with the newest thing, it changes and youâre left behind.
We hear the words âshop small, shop local, support small businessâ so frequently these days that sometimes I wonder if itâs almost like crying wolf.
Trust me, itâs not! Your small community businesses are still and will always be the heart of your community.
So please, as you head out today to prepare for Thanksgiving, and over the next few weeks to prepare for the upcoming holidays, make time to stop at as many of your small community businesses as possible.
Even if you are the only person they see that day, their worst fear will have been stifled, at least for another day. đ
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I am thankful for each, and every one of you who has supported my small little business this year đŤś
