It’s been two weeks since we closed the door at Mrs Murphy’s Irish Gifts and started our retirement. In that time, we have had a chance to reflect on all the wonderful people who made the past 26 years so enjoyable. First, we must thank so many members of our family who went above and beyond in supporting us and helping out whenever they were needed. All the part-time employees who worked for short and long periods of time but always left their mark, especially our St. Pat’s Day crew through the years including; Sandi, Jo, Catherine, Liz, Phyllis, Lucy, and others who we are probably forgetting but who worked so hard and were so important. Next our fantastic neighbors and a special thank you to Jeff Danz (Zandbroz Variety) for welcoming us to Phillips Ave 26 years ago and being a constant and supportive friend through all the years (Special note: for any of our customers who use Inis cologne, you can now find it at Zandbroz). We saw so many changes on Phillips Ave in 26 years and saw so many quality stores, such Child’s Play Toys, that moved in and made such a difference to the neighborhood. Speaking of neighbors, many thanks to the Sioux Falls media, especially our local television stations, who were so good to us and who we so enjoyed meeting through the years. We were happy and proud to be members of Downtown Sioux Falls (DTSF) and South Dakota Retailers (SDRA) and we truly believe that having the strength of these organizations behind us contributed greatly to our success. We must thank our landlords for giving us such a great space and great location, you don’t always hear stories of really decent property owners, but we were fortunate to work with some of the best. Finally, we must thank our customers without whom we wouldn’t have lasted a year, let alone 26. Thank you, thank you! So many of you became close friends and all of you made a tremendous, positive impact on our lives!
