Mom turned 75! 🥳

And her girls decided the best way to celebrate was with drinks, laughs and making their own blankets. ❤️

They started at The Barrel House and then came over for a Build A Blanket party and seriously… THIS is exactly why I wanted to start doing these.

Pick your fabrics. Hang out with your people. Laugh way too much. And go home with a blanket you actually made yourself.

Birthdays, girls nights, work groups, family days, bachelorette parties… or you really don’t need a reason at all. 😂

Grab your people and come build a blanket with me!

Happy 75th, I hope this one is wrapped in some pretty great memories. ❤️

Well… this picture looks a whole lot happier than I feel right now. 😂

White Barns was SO good to us this spring that I came back this weekend stocked and ready… and today we’re sitting at about 1/3 of the sales we did on Friday this spring.

Ouch.

That’s the gamble of a small handmade business. You buy the fabric, spend the hours making everything, load it all up, drive the miles and hope people show up.

I’m not looking for sympathy and I’m definitely not throwing in the towel. I’m way too stubborn for that. 😂 But if you’re anywhere near West Union, Iowa, COME SEE ME! I brought an insane amount of beautiful blankets and I would much rather they go home with you than back to South Dakota with me.

And if you aren’t close, sharing Shake Rattle & Sew or telling someone why you love your blanket helps more than you probably realize. ❤️

Well… this can only mean one thing 😂

We’re getting ready to hit the road again!

Next stop ➡️ themarketatwhite.barns in West Union Iowa!

Friday Sept 11th & Saturday Sept 12th 🤍

The shop is currently covered in fabric, blankets are being made as fast as we can make them and I will 100% convince myself we can fit way more in the trailer than we actually can. Same story, different show. 😂

We came to White Barns for the first time this spring and you guys were SO good to us, so I’m really excited to come back!

If you’re anywhere around West Union, come see us. Come feel the blankets, dig through all the prints and help make hauling all of this softness and hugs to Iowa worth it.

Back to sewing because apparently these things aren’t going to make themselves.
