🚬🎄 What Is a German Smoker? 🎄🚬

If you've ever visited Beacham's Clock Co. and wondered about the charming wooden figures with pipes, lanterns, or mugs in their hands, you're not alone!

A German Smoker (called a Räuchermann in Germany) is a handcrafted wooden figure that comes to life with the gentle aroma of incense.

Here's how it works:

✨ Lift off the figure's upper body.
🔥 Place a small incense cone on the metal plate inside.
🎩 Replace the top, light the incense, and watch as fragrant smoke rises through the figure's mouth—making it look like it's happily puffing away!

This beloved tradition began in Germany's Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) in the late 1800s. Skilled woodworkers created smokers depicting everyday people like foresters, bakers, miners, and toy makers. Today, you'll also find Santas, snowmen, musicians, chefs, and dozens of whimsical characters.
