Growing up, I always enjoyed harvesting kelp. It became a yearly tradition that I looked forward to. I would have never imagined back then that one day I would take over the business from my parents. A decade later, I'm still harvesting kelp, this time as the business owner. Thank you for continuing to support Simple Pleasures and allowing me to continue the legacy of bringing Wild Alaskan products to you. ❤️ Mary

It’s time!!

Simple Pleasures NEEDS ALL of your Salmonberries !!

As many as you can pick, we want them all. I mean, of course pick some for yourself and your family, but we will take the rest. 😉

$4 per lb.

Please pick the leaves, sticks and slugs out of your bucket before bringing them to us. We will clean them the rest of the way. DO NOT clean them with water before bringing them to us. Thank you!

I will be buying salmonberries between 6pm-8pm everyday until the season is over.

p.s.

It is illegal to pick berries for commercial use on National Forest land. So don’t pick in the National Parks because you might get in trouble. But you can pick your neighbors huge patches that go untouched, just make sure you ask them first! 🤪

Springtime in Alaska is a magical time. ✨ As everything around us wakes up from a dark winter sleep you can’t help but feel alive. The spring sun bring life to everything it touches, leaving a wave of green in its wake. The spruce trees awaken from their long winter naps and begin to show signs of life. They stretch their long limbs and bright green tips of new life are born. We harvest these tender new growth while they are still small and full of flavor. Spruce tips have a bright, citrus-like flavor and all the vitality of a forest bursting forth in springtime.

🤍Enjoy Spruce Tip Jelly on toast with butter; in thumb-print cookies; on a charcuterie platter; with smoked salmon and cream cheese; or to accompany any wild meat or fish. A taste of spring in Alaska.

Reminiscing on all the memories we’ve made so far during this year’s bull kelp harvesting season.

We are nearing the end of huckleberry season! Which means we are finishing up harvesting huckleberries for the whole upcoming year! 😳

Huckleberries are very rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C, B and Potassium! The bushes in Sitka this time of year are loaded with these bright berries!
