The Gallery is Expanding!

Dear Friend of the Gallery,

We have an exciting announcement to share with you!

River Roads Artisans Gallery is expanding! Our dedicated volunteer artisans are hard at work creating a new, larger space for visitors and exhibits — one that will let us welcome more guests, showcase more artists, and grow our presence right here in Skowhegan.

Because our team is pouring their time and energy into this exciting opportunity, we will not be hosting a Third Thursday Art Party in August. We appreciate your understanding as we focus on bringing this expanded space to life, and we look forward to celebrating with you again soon!

How You Can Help
As a valued Gallery supporter, there are two easy ways to be part of this growth:

🌱Purchase a Gallery eGift Card -Treat yourself or a fellow art lover — every purchase supports our artisans and our expansion. https://www.riverroadsgallery.com/gift-cards

🌱Make a Tax-Deduction Donation - Help us fund construction and bring our new space to life. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference https://www.riverroadsgallery.com/donate

Thank you for being part of our community and for helping us grow into a bigger, better home for the arts in Skowhegan. We can't wait to show you what we're building!

With gratitude,
River Roads Artisans Gallery

We are so excited to welcome Pam of Four + North back to Roads Artisans Gallery! 🌟

Looking for a sweet hostess gift, a housewarming surprise, or just a little pick-me-up? Pam’s gorgeous pieces make the absolute perfect gift for anyone (including yourself!).

📍 Come say hi and shop her designs at 75 Water St, Skowhegan!

"My designs are inspired by nature’s small details and are often rooted in the symbolism of flowers and birds, with little hints of meaning woven in along the way. I like to keep things a bit playful and a bit imperfect, mixing organic shapes, soft textures, and color in ways that feel easygoing and full of life.

Mostly, I just enjoy making patterns that feel good to look at and fun to use—whether they end up on fabric, paper, or something else entirely."

Four and North (formally North Circle Studio) is located in the home studio of Pamela Fortin in Fairfield, Maine. Since learning to screen print a few years ago, she has transferred her original artwork to useful and reusable home goods such as flour sack tea towels, napkin sets, produce/bread bags and market tote bags. Products are hand screen printed in small batches with eco-friendly ink. Each design is inspired by and made in Maine.

NICKI REINHOLT

I have always wanted art to be part of my life. Now, in retirement, I can at last follow my dream to create art for others and myself. My artwork captures the awe and intrigue I experience in a moment of time and place.

Using a variety of mediums including, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, colored pencils, and soft pastels, I create paintings that reflect my encounters with the world around me. Observing and studying scenes and subjects in depth, creating small tonal sketches, and taking reference photos helps me to understand my vision and ultimately determine compositions that bring the viewer into my experience.

I am deeply grateful for my early exposure to the great masters, which ignited my lifelong passion for the arts, and for the encouragement and inspiration of Maine’s talented and supportive artist community.

Paintings by John Alsop

I have painted in fits and starts since childhood and am largely self-taught, painting in either watercolors or oils.
I like to get outside and paint “plein air” in the field, but also paint in my studio, working off recollections of outdoor scenes that caught my attention, and also doing still-lifes and pet portraits on occasion.
I particularly like to paint in the north Maine woods with its logging sites, bogs, streams, fields and thickets. I’m a big fan of Tom Thomson, Winslow Homer and Carl Sprinchorn. As a Maine Guide, I’m interested in taking painters out into the Maine woods and waters.
I make my own frames. They are a little crude but sturdy. A real money saver as well!
I have a website: johnalsoppaintings.com

After years of working with pastels on large portraits, I gave away most of my pastels in order to carry on a family tradition of handmade cards and ornaments: paper products with embellishments like glitter, wire, fabrics.
Lately I have redirected my energies into my current creative pursuit, SkizaFibers. I design and make primarily with paper: recycling, collage, pop-up cards, ornaments and garlands. I have realized I’m still a portrait artist, makng ‘portraits’ of wildlife in the hope that others will to fall in love with wild Maine.
