Well, our new stove made quite an entrance today. 😂

And before we could start cooking all the things, we had to run the oven empty for about an hour to let it off-gas.

Let me tell you...

WHEW. 😳

That new-stove smell was not exactly what I wanted filling the house.

Thankfully, we had a simmer pot on standby. 😉

So while the stove was doing its thing, we put a simmer pot on the cooktop and let it work its magic, too.

Now instead of the smell of a brand-new off-gassing appliance filling the kitchen, we've got coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and a little orange peel drifting through the house.

Much better. ☕️🍫🍊

And this is honestly one of the things I love about simmer pots. They're not just something we make and sell at 2 Spicy Girlz—they're something we actually use at home.

New stove?
Simmer pot to the rescue.

Need the house to smell cozy before company comes over?
Simmer pot.

Want your kitchen to smell like you've been baking all day when you absolutely have not?
You know what to do. 😂

Today we're simmering Mocha Mood—rich, smooth, and not here to behave.

Because apparently, even a brand-new stove needs a little 2 Spicy Girlz attitude adjustment. 🌶️

Scented moments, cozy rituals & a little sass.

☕️🍫 MOCHA MOOD

Rich, smooth, and not here to behave.

Okay, we're going to be honest about this one.

Mocha Mood is probably not going to win any beauty contests. 😂

Coffee beans. Cacao nibs. Vanilla. Cinnamon.

Put them all together and, well... it looks a little like we emptied the pantry into a bag and called it a simmer pot.

But here's the thing.

Mocha Mood isn't about how it looks. It's about the transformation.

Give it a little time on the stove—about 30 minutes or so—and everything starts to change.

The coffee gets deeper.
The cacao starts bringing that rich chocolate note.
The vanilla softens everything.
The cinnamon warms it up.

And then there's the orange peel. Just a little bit of brightness hiding underneath all that coffee and chocolate. You don't necessarily notice it right away—but it's part of what keeps Mocha Mood from getting too heavy.

Because even Mocha Mood needs something to keep it from taking itself too seriously. 🍊

The result?

Rich. Moody. Warm. Chocolatey. And absolutely delicious.

We've learned this one firsthand at our festivals. We'll have Mocha Mood simmering at the booth, and before long, someone will stop and say:

"What is THAT?" 😍

And that's when we get to introduce them to the simmer pot that proves you really shouldn't judge a book—or a bag of brown ingredients—by its cover.

😂

Mocha Mood is the dark horse of our Coffee Collection.

It may not be the prettiest one on the table...

but once it gets simmering?

That's when it gets interesting.

☕️🍫🌶️

And honestly, isn't that a little bit of a mood?

CITRUS GRIND 🍊☕️

Bright, bold, and already ahead of you.

This one is a little different.

Citrus Grind doesn't give you everything at once. You have to give it a little time.

At first, you'll notice the rich coffee and warm cinnamon. Then, as the simmering continues, something really special starts to happen. The dried orange slices begin to rehydrate, slowly coming back to life as the citrus, vanilla, coffee, and spice start to mingle.

And somewhere along the way, the whole thing gets deeper, warmer, and more layered.

Which got me thinking...

Maybe that's exactly how we're supposed to enjoy it, too.

Sometimes you don't need to rush into the next thing. Sometimes you need to give yourself a little time, let yourself warm up, breathe a little, and come back to life.

So put Citrus Grind on the stove, grab your coffee, and give it a minute.

Watch the oranges come back to life. 🍊
Let the scent fill the house. ☕️
And maybe take a few minutes to come back to life yourself.

Because being already ahead of you doesn't mean you have to hurry.

☕️ ESPRESSO YOURSELF ☕️
It smells like you’ve got your life together.

The inspiration for our Coffee Collection came from someone very close to us: my sister and Erin's mom, Jami.

She loves the smell of coffee, but she doesn't like to drink it. 😂

So I started playing with the idea of creating that rich, comforting coffeehouse experience without needing a cup of coffee in your hand. And that's how Espresso Yourself was born.

This one is my personal favorite. ❤️

We start with rich espresso beans and layer in cinnamon, real vanilla bean, green cardamom, and just a touch of orange peel.

The espresso brings that deep, roasted coffeehouse aroma. Vanilla and cinnamon add warmth, while cardamom and orange peel give it a bright, sophisticated twist that keeps it from feeling too heavy.

It's warm and inviting, but there's something a little more elevated about it.

Think European coffeehouse, not your average cup of morning joe. ☕️

And the best part? You don't have to like coffee to love this one.

If you love the smell of coffee but aren't interested in actually drinking it, we made this one for you.

Add the blend to a small pot of water, bring it to a boil, then turn the heat down and let it simmer. Refill the water as needed, and you can reuse your simmer pot 2–3 times.

Because sometimes you don't need to actually have your life together.

You just need your house to smell like you do. 😉

BERRY BOLD 🍓🌿

If Sweet Heat is the one that refuses to behave, Berry Bold is the one that brings a little tartness and a whole lot of personality.

A little tart, a lot of attitude.

Berry Bold starts with dried cranberries, rosemary, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice berries. And there's something a little extra special about this one...

We grow the rosemary ourselves. 🌿

It starts out in the garden, soaking up the sunshine, and eventually makes its way into our dehydrator and then into your simmer pot.

And those cranberries? We start with fresh, plump cranberries and slice and dry them ourselves, too. 🍒

There's something pretty satisfying about taking fresh ingredients, slowing them down in the dehydrator, and turning them into something that can fill your home with fragrance weeks or months later.

The cranberries bring the bright, slightly tart berry note. The rosemary adds a fresh, herbal edge. Cinnamon, cloves, and allspice bring just enough warmth to round everything out.

The result?

A little tart. A little herbal. A little cozy. And definitely not boring.

When it hits the simmering water, the cranberries soften, the rosemary opens up, and all those warm spices start doing their thing. The whole combination smells fresh and bright with just enough spice to keep it interesting.

To use: add the contents to a small pot with water, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it gently simmer. Add water as needed and never leave a heated simmer pot unattended.

Tomorrow, we're heading straight for the coffee pot. ☕😉

Scented moments, cozy rituals, and just the right amount of sass. ❤️

SWEET HEAT 🌶️🍊

Some simmer pots are polite.
This one is not. 🌶️

Sweet Heat has been one of our best sellers from the very beginning—we manage to run out of it at just about every festival we take it to.

So apparently, you guys like a little attitude in your home fragrance. 😂

Sweet Heat starts with dried orange, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice creating that warm, rich, spicy scent you expect from a classic simmer pot.

But the real star of this blend is star anise. ⭐

The beautiful little spice brings a deep, warm, distinctive note to the blend. It's one of those ingredients you can smell and immediately know there's something a little different going on.

And then there's the plot twist... 🌶️

Red pepper flakes.

Yep. We put red pepper flakes in a simmer pot. 😂

Not enough to make your house smell like a bowl of hot sauce, I promise. 😉 They add just a little extra warmth and depth to the blend—and they're also the ingredient that makes people stop and look twice when they see what's actually in the bag.

Warm, bold, and impossible to ignore.

When Sweet Heat is simmering, the orange brings the brightness, star anise gives it that unmistakable character, and the cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and red pepper flakes bring the warmth.

It's cozy, spicy, and just different enough to make you wonder what you're smelling.

To use: add the contents to a small pot with water, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it gently simmer. Add water as needed and never leave a heated simmer pot unattended. A small crock pot is another way to enjoy this spicy blend.

Tomorrow, we're getting a little more berry-ish. 🍓🌿

Scented moments, cozy rituals, and just the right amount of sass. ❤️

CITRUS KICK 🍊

Let's start this little simmer pot series with one of our originals.

Citrus Kick is exactly what it sounds like—bright citrus with a warm, spicy kick.

Our blend starts with dried orange slices, cinnamon, whole cloves, allspice berries, and black peppercorns. No fragrance oils. No essential oils. Just whole ingredients that smell as good as they look.

And those oranges? We slice and dehydrate them ourselves, which means there's an amazing citrus aroma floating around the kitchen while we're making them. 🍊

Once everything goes into the pot, the orange brings the brightness, the cinnamon and cloves bring the cozy, and the allspice and black pepper add just enough warmth to make you notice.

Fresh, bright, and a little spicy. 🌶️

It's the kind of scent that makes your house smell like you've been doing something wonderfully productive—even if all you've actually done is put a pot on the stove. 😂

To use: add the contents to a small pot with water, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it gently simmer. Add water as needed and never leave a heated simmer pot unattended. And yes... you can get more than one use from it.

Tomorrow, we'll turn up the heat a little. 😉

Scented moments, cozy rituals, and just the right amount of sass. 🌶️❤️

WHY USE A SIMMER POT? 🌿🍊

Maybe you've seen our simmer pots at a farmers market, winery, boutique, or online and wondered...

What exactly IS a simmer pot? And why would I want one?

A simmer pot is a simple way to fragrance your home using water + whole natural ingredients like citrus, herbs, spices, coffee, vanilla, and botanicals. As they gently warm, their natural aromatic compounds are released into the air, filling your home with fragrance.

So why do we love them?

🌿 They're a simple alternative to candles, sprays, and plug-in fragrances. There's no candle flame or aerosol spray involved.

🍊 The ingredients are real. Citrus, herbs, spices, coffee, vanilla... you can actually see what's creating the scent, and what you see is beautiful.

🏡 They make your whole home smell amazing. The warm water and steam help carry the aroma throughout the room.

💧 They add a little moisture to the air. A simmering pot releases water v***r as it heats, and we're heading into that time of year when the heat coming on makes the air so dry.

♻️ They're a beautiful way to enjoy natural ingredients, and they can often be used more than once. Just let the pan or crockpot cool, and place it in the refrigerator to use the next day. I consistently get three uses out of our blends.

☕ They're endlessly customizable. Want bright citrus? Cozy spices? Coffee? Something fresh and herbal? There's a simmer pot for that.

And there's a more personal reason I love them...

I've always had pet birds. Birds have incredibly sensitive respiratory systems, and that has made me very conscious of what I put into the air in my home. Veterinary guidance specifically warns about airborne pollutants and products such as air fresheners, essential-oil diffusers, smoke, and cleaning-product fumes around birds.

That's one reason I love making our simmer pots with whole ingredients and no added fragrance oils or essential oils. I've happily used them around my own little parakeet, Crystal. 💙🐦

BUT—and this is important—Crystal isn't a scientific safety certification. If you have a bird, know your own bird and keep their environment well ventilated. And if your bird is flighted like Crystal, please make sure your feathered troublemaker is safely in their cage while you're simmering.

If you have a flighted bird, small children, or you're the kind of person who might wander away and forget about the pot (no judgment—we've all been there 😆), consider using a crockpot with a lid instead of an open pan. And whatever method you use, keep an eye on the water level and never leave a heated simmer pot unattended.

Tomorrow we'll start putting these little pots to work. Each day this week, we'll introduce you to one of our blends—and tell you a little bit about what makes it special.

Scented moments, cozy rituals, and just the right amount of sass. 🌶️❤️

Apparently, we need another set of testers. 😂🌶️

When we made our first set, we had no idea how many places these little simmer pots would end up this summer!

Since then, we've done shows and farmers markets, and our simmer pots have found their way into a winery, a boutique, and a mercantile. So we're making yet another set of testers to keep up with all the wonderful places 2 Spicy Girlz is showing up!

We're also taking a minute to appreciate what a fun summer it's been. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has stopped at our booth, smelled a simmer pot, asked questions, bought something, shared a post, invited us to an event, or helped us get our products into your shop.

We started 2 Spicy Girlz because we wanted to make things we love to use ourselves. We didn't expect so many of you to come along for the ride.

We're pretty darn grateful.

Now... back to making testers. Apparently, these simmer pots have places to be. 🌶️😉
