Ken Paxton Greg Abbott — I’m asking you to listen to the Texas families and small businesses being affected by the changing h**p laws.
My family is one of those families.
I’m not asking for a free pass for the h**p industry. I believe in protecting children, testing products, accurate labeling, responsible manufacturing, age restrictions, and holding businesses accountable when they break the law.
But there is a difference between reasonable regulation and destroying legitimate businesses and livelihoods.
A 2025 economic analysis commissioned by the Texas H**p Business Council estimated that Texas’ h**p-derived cannabinoid industry generated about $5.5 billion in annual revenue and more than $10.2 billion in total economic activity, supporting more than 53,000 jobs. Those aren’t just numbers on a report. They represent farmers, employees, small-business owners, and families.
My family is one of them.
When laws change overnight, legitimate businesses can be left with inventory they can no longer sell, investments they can no longer recover, and families who suddenly have to figure out how to replace income they depended on.
I believe h**p should be regulated responsibly—not treated as an enemy.
We can protect children.
We can require testing.
We can require accurate labeling.
We can restrict sales to adults.
We can punish bad actors.
And we can still protect legitimate Texas farmers, small businesses, employees, and families.
Governor Abbott, you previously vetoed SB 3 and called for regulation rather than prohibition. I’m asking you and Attorney General Paxton to remember that principle as Texas continues dealing with h**p policy.
Please don’t forget the families behind the numbers.
H**p is a plant. How we use it is our responsibility. How government regulates it should be based on evidence, public safety, fairness, and respect for the Texans whose livelihoods are affected.
My family is one of those Texans.
