When the Texas heat ☀️calls for a slower pace… We’ve saved a little patch of sky and grass just for you. 🌿

Tomorrow, August 2nd, join us for our first Slow Sunday, a quiet preview of Smitty’s Small Town Wonders BookHouse.

Step into A Room for Wonder, where you’ll find a place to read, write, color, imagine, or simply pause.

Read the pen pal letters we’ve received through the Sunday Letter Project, and if one speaks to you, write back.

Browse a few books. Write a letter. Color a page for our Christmas in July Explore Smithville Coloring Contest.

Whether you have 10 minutes or a few hours, you’re welcome to drop in, stay awhile, and leave a little lighter for the week ahead. 💛

No agenda.
No rush.
Just a place to slow down.

💌 Another letter has arrived at Smitty's Small Town Wonders BookHouse.

Just a few days ago, we shared our first pen-pal letter. Now another has found its way to us.

As a Letter Keeper for the Sunday Letter Project, we are beginning to see how one handwritten letter can lead to another—and perhaps to a new friendship.

This Sunday, join us for our first Slow Sunday. Read the letters waiting in the Wonder Box on the porch, write back, begin a letter of your own, or simply slow down.

Pause. Read. Imagine. Just be.

You can also color a page for our Christmas in July Coloring Contest before the deadline.

Christmas in July officially begins today! 🎄

While Smitty and Twig put the final touches on 206 Bishop Street, Smitty has prepared a sample itinerary for anyone ready to wander beyond Main Street.

Begin at Twig Vintage & Whimsy, where Smitty will be outside waiting to welcome you. Inside, Twig will be hiding on shelves and counters for Find Twig—spot him for a special discount.

Then step into a preview of Smitty’s Small Town Wonders BookHouse. Browse the books, write a postcard, pick up an Explore Smithville Activity Book, and enter the coloring contest for a chance to win cash prizes while picking up few gingerbread surprises.

From there, continue toward Red Rock Boots & Gift Shop. Yes—Smithville has its own Texas boot store.

Nearby, you will also find:

🌮 El Mexicano for Mexican favorites in colorful surroundings reminiscent of old Mexico.

🍹 The Birdsong for cocktails, conversation, and a friendly game of pool.

🍕 Black Flag Pizza, one of Smitty’s favorites, for thin crust, a lightly charred bottom, and inventive flavors.

As you make your way back toward Main Street, follow the route through Swayze’s Burger House, Fat Cat Lounge, Bubby’s BBQ, and Pocket’s Grille.

🍔 Swayze’s Burger House comes first. After helping launch notable restaurants and burger joints in Austin, Swayze chose Smithville for his own venture. Order from the food truck outside, then head inside for the full bar.

🍷 Next is fatcatloungeandcafe Fat Cat Lounge, opening for Christmas in July with a special farm-to-table menu and thoughtfully selected wine pairings from a former wine distributor and longtime judge at major wine competitions.

🔥 Bubby’s BBQ is a local favorite—but go early. Once they sell out, they are done for the day.

🍔 Finish at Pocket’s Grille, serving burgers and hot dogs with a playground for little explorers and a condiment bar built into a vintage car.

Main Street may be where your Smithville adventure begins, but Smitty hopes you will keep wandering. Some of the best discoveries are waiting just beyond the next turn.

Which stop would you make first?
