47th and Pioneer

47th and Pioneer Vintage, refreshed, redone and rescued. The old made new. EcoFriendly, Green, you might even say Rec Green Gifts, EcoFriendly for yourself or a loved one.

Redone, Repurposed, Reused, Renewed, Recycled, Refreshed. Earth Conscious items made with love. When you see an old book, pages falling out and cover flopping, do you see potential for a whole second life or do you see something at the end of its life?
47th and Pioneer products are crafted of just such items, whose first life has been completed and now it is ready for a second purpose -
With a fi

rm and deeply held conviction that we are to care for the earth and its inhabitants by creating less waste and making use of what we have already created, Judi, the force behind 47th and Pioneer has been rescuing bits and pieces and recreating from them for years, and has been selling for several years, the last couple in shops in Snohomish but now back in her hometown of EVERETT!

Fully intended to do something much more important than some hand stitching this week while away, but in the end... yeah.
Well, there will be a new batch of brooches in the shop soon!!
Loving the new craze of shashiko which allows for less than perfection.
I have always enjoyed the fugliness of my little pieces, and now they aren't just my handstiching but actually a thing!!

Thinking I like the cats and may try something else, like chickens. Just need to figure out the best general shape to cut.

Using up a bunch of small scraps of wool from my myriad of past projects. Who knows what will come next?

Have a ton of work to do for the shop but a three hour drive home will certainly give me time for making something new!!

At the shop today using the quiet to make some new pieces and it got me to wondering...what is the favorite length for earrings?

I find I like mine to be more than 1 inch but no more than 3. Probably most of mine come in around 2.5 inches of dangle. And dangle they must- not much of a post wearer.

What is your perfect length??

This photograph taken this spring at Mt Rainier has been made into blank greeting cards available at Artisans Mercantile. They used the photo to make this lovely graphic! Awesome!

Happy Sunday!!
Love to celebrate the beauty of creation!
Photograhs like this one are available as blank greeting cards at the shop- one of many cards that highlight Nature's wonders by a couple of artists.

I LOVE making something cool and unusual for our customers- and this is one of my favorites, giant wishes in jars, preserved for future need!!
Some of these jars are over 120 years old!! The dreams and wishes? Well, they are timeless!

These little cuties, organic catnip mice, are a labor of love. I timed it today and it took me almost 1/2 hour for each one, and that is with the pieces already cut out.

So, I hate to say it, but the prices will have to go up. My crazy estimate that I can make about 5 an hour...

But, if you want quality, organic, handstiched, reclaimed wool mice... well, they will be in stock after the fair! My goal is 30 to take to the fair as 47th and Pioneer product, we will see.... huh, 15 hours of hand sewing....
