I met Melissa at the Durango Autumn Arts Festival. Her business, Canyon Creek Goods, had a wonderful booth set up for shoppers. I'm a big fan of denim and her beautiful cowls, denim jackets, and bags caught my attention, especially her denim dusters. Thank you so much, Melissa, for being a part of my 'Faces of Durango' project.

She custom designs "Handmade, one-of-a-kind wool cowls, denim jackets, and bags that connect you to the spirit of modern equestrian and Southwestern lifestyles." (Canyon Creek Goods) Her custom line of clothing and accessories are both unique and beautiful. She has a wonderful online store to make shopping convenient.

Ever wonder about the history behind the Pendleton® wool I use in my workshop?

This is the Pendleton® wool Diamond Ridge pattern.

Named after the rugged landscape above Homer, Alaska, this Pendleton® pattern pairs bold geometric diamonds with angular forms reminiscent of mountain ridges and the vast landscapes of the American West.

The Center Diamonds: Symbolize the Four Directions and the balance between land, rider, and sky.

The Stepped Edges: Represent mountain peaks, strength, and personal ascension.

I intentionally chose this textile for this custom accent chair because its structured, bold symmetry gives the classic, elegant frame a sharp, modern edge.
