Fine hair and thinning hair aren’t necessarily the same thing.

You can have naturally fine hair and have a TON of it.

Thinning is when you’re noticing a change—less density, a wider part, a smaller ponytail or more scalp showing than you used to.

And figuring out which one you’re dealing with matters, because that’s where I start when I’m helping someone with their hair.

After almost 40 years behind the chair, one thing I know for sure:

Women are incredibly hard on themselves when their hair starts changing.

Please don’t immediately assume you’ve done something wrong. 🤍

The first thing I want to know is WHAT is changing—shedding, breakage, density, texture, scalp health—because those aren’t all the same problem.

Beautiful hair after 40, 50 and beyond may look a little different than it did at 25.

That doesn’t make it less beautiful.

You don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to enjoy where you are.

You don’t need the perfect body to wear the outfit.

The perfect schedule to start something new.

The perfect hair to take the picture.

Or the perfect plan before you take the next step.

Goodness, if I waited until I had everything figured out, I’d still be waiting. 😂

I’m learning to quit postponing the good parts of life.

Wear it. Try it. Take the picture. Start the thing. Enjoy TODAY. 🤍

Hello, September. ☕🤍

There’s something about turning the calendar to a new month that always makes me feel like I get a tiny fresh start.

Not a “change your entire life by Friday” fresh start. 😂

Just a chance to ask myself…

What do I want MORE of this month?

More time with people I love.
More work that feels meaningful.
More confidence.
More fun.
More saying yes to things that excite me.

And maybe a little less worrying about whether I’m doing everything perfectly.

So September…

I’m showing up. Let’s see what you have for me. 🤍

Isn’t she something. 🤍

The woman who has changed her mind.

Started over.

Raised babies.

Helped everybody else.

Lost people.

Loved people.

Worked hard.

Had seasons when she knew exactly where she was going—and seasons when she absolutely did not. 😂

And somehow she’s still here dreaming about what might be next.

I think sometimes we’re so busy looking ahead at the woman we’re trying to become that we forget to appreciate the woman who got us here.

So tonight I’m giving a little credit to her.

The younger versions of me didn’t have everything figured out.

Neither does this one.

But goodness…

she kept going. 🤍
