🤍🏔️ Back with PPFT, please welcome Paws! 🏔️🤍
Please help us welcome Paws (now known as Elsie), a 6-year-old, 67-pound female Great Pyrenees, back to Pyr Paws N Fluffy Tails Rescue. We never expected to see this sweet girl again, and we wish with all our hearts that the circumstances were different. This return is absolutely no fault of her own.
In fact, it couldn't be further from it. Paws was deeply loved and absolutely adored by her owner. They shared six wonderful years together, and by all accounts, she was cherished every single day. Tragically, her owner unexpectedly passed away, leaving Paws without the person she had always counted on. With no family members able to take her in, she found herself sitting in a shelter—confused, grieving, and without the home she had always known.
Then something incredible happened. A dear friend of her adopter remembered one very important promise we make to every family who adopts from us—that our dogs always have a place to come back to if life takes an unexpected turn. They reached out to let us know what had happened and that Paws, now known as Elsie, was waiting in the shelter. From that moment on, so many incredible people stepped up to make sure she didn't have to stay there.
🐾 A heartfelt thank you to Foothills Animal Shelter for working with us to ensure Paws could leave the shelter and return to the rescue that promised to always have her back. Your compassion and willingness to work with us made all the difference.
🐾 Thank you to Dan for stepping up to temporarily foster her and giving her a soft place to land after such an unimaginable loss.
🐾 And a huge thank you to Kerrie for opening your heart and saying "yes" to this beautiful girl. Because of you, Paws didn't have to endure a long transport back to Oklahoma. Instead, she'll be able to stay in the state she's called home since she was a puppy, surrounded by familiar sights while she begins to heal.
This story is heartbreaking, but it's also a reminder of why our return policy matters so much. We never want one of our dogs to end up forgotten in the shelter system because life took an unexpected turn. Through no fault of her own, Paws lost everything she knew—but she didn't lose the people who promised to always be here for her.
❤️ Colorado friends, this is your chance. Paws will be fostered in Fairplay, Colorado, so if you've followed us over the years or have been hoping to adopt a wonderful Great Pyrenees without making the trip to Oklahoma, we'd love for you to consider this amazing girl.
