Here’s that old parlor guitar that was in pieces on a previous post from a few weeks ago. I recently returned from my yearly trip to northern Ontario and jumped back on this project to get it wrapped up. It’s a fun little instrument! I always get a thrill playing the first few chords on a project like this knowing I had a role in keeping this guitar from being relegated to wall hanger status. It’s a player again and since it’s already made it to a hundred years, maybe it’ll make it another hundred or so.

Just wrapped up work on another old Gibson. This one is a c.1915 L-1 archtop that is in great shape for its age. It came in with some mismatched non original tuners, badly worn frets, missing tailpiece saddle block and bridge pins, and the back glue joint was failing in multiple places. I’m really happy with the way this one came together!

I guess like Swedish things. I’m married to a Swedish American woman, I owned and loved a few old Volvo 240’s and a couple of more modern Volvo S and V70’s. I’ve even owned a couple of old Saab’s over the years that I was very fond of. I really like this Swedish bass on my bench today. This one was made in the early to mid 60’s and has been owned by the same guy for many years. He hasn’t babied it, but he has played it and enjoyed it. Despite not being babied, everything on this bass still works perfectly and still looks great. I’m astonished the pickup selector buttons still work! I recently had a 1976 Volvo 244 that the odometer quit working at 250k miles. I had no idea how many miles it actually had, but it started every time you turned the key and the engine sounded great. That’s the end of my Swedish rant. Thanks for hanging in there 😁
