Join us at vinyl index for a listening party celebrating Org Music’s long-awaited all-analog reissue of Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain, out September 11. At 6pm that day be among the first to hear the newly remastered album, pick up a copy, and enjoy giveaways and prizes. We’ll be stocked on all formats including the Armageddon Red 1LP, audiophile 2LP and gold cassette. We’ll spin the record through in its entirety; afterwards aaron wetjen-barry will spin selections from the rest of the Funkadelic vinyl catalog for his Staff Pics DJ night, along with other related records! But that’s not all!
corkyscoffee and Org Music roasted a Funkadelic masterpiece into a bag of beans, a tribute to the 1971 Westbound classic cut in Detroit: a specialty-grade medium roast built to be sipped slow while Eddie Hazel’s ten-minute solo takes the top of your head off. A 60/40 blend of direct-from-farm beans, Brazilian from Minas Gerais and washed Guatemalan from Antigua, with notes of peanut butter, cacao, and berries. Smooth and rich with a wildstreak, just like the record. The bag wears the album’s legendary cover, so your counter finally has some taste. Strictly limited. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
We’ll be stocked on bags of Corky’s Maggot Brain Coffee plus our fam at Nook have crafted up a special cocktail for the event, using Corky’s coffee with lemon, raspberry, walnut, sherry & apple brandy - more info to follow but we just tried a mockup of it and its’ delicious!
