Strempek Shea didn’t write and run the pieces through an adult lens. She pens each story as though she were still a child in Polish school.

We here at Odyssey Bookshop can’t imagine a better way to ring in a New England fall than with a new novel by Alice Hoffman, the author of Practical Magic. Alice Hoffman will be sharing her new book, The Witches of Cambridge, on Thursday, September 10 at 7 PM at Center Church. She will be joined in conversation by Deborah Harkness.

This is a ticketed, bundled event. Your ticket price includes a signed copy of the book. Companion tickets are available for $10. Tickets must be purchased at the Odyssey Eventbrite page.

The Witches of Cambridge is set in 1950s Cambridge, as Ava arrives for her first year at Radcliffe College. She meets Lauren, her opposite in every way—wild, brazen, wealthy, and well-established. Both are recruited by the Lilith Society, a secret organization of witches at Radcliffe dating back to colonial times. As they learn more about their legacy, the shadow of McCarthyism looms large, an ever-present threat to the flourishing creative and intellectual life in Cambridge. When girls from the Lilith Society begin to go missing, Ava and Lauren realize the witch trials of the past may not be as deeply buried as they once believed.

I just bought my ticket and will be road tripping from Washington DC. Who will be joining me?
