According to FEMA, flooding is the most common natural disaster in the United States and it can happen at home or while traveling. Sandbags can help protect doorways and redirect water away from your home or campsite.

We are using the Quick Dam self inflating system to help protect against hurricane Hilary in the event we encounter substantial rain.

Quick Dam flood bags are activated when coming in contsct with water by using an absorbent material that can expand in 5-10 minutes. Spray with with a hose and stack ahead of time to protect against flash floods.

Be prepared and stay safe out there.

The majestic Rainbow Bridge is the largest known natural bridge in the world. Standing 290 feet, this sandstone arch spans 275 feet across Bridge Creek fed by Lake Powell, Utah in the Navajo Reservation.

This magnificent monument is tucked away through a maze of canyons that is largely only accessible by boat to the public. Despite the remote location, it’s been known for centuries by the Native Americans who lived in the area and have long considered this bridge sacred.

In 1974, Navajo tribal members residing nearby had filed suit in an attempt to preserve important Navajo religious sites threatened by rising waters and thousands of visitors due to The Glen Canyon Dam.

By 1993 a National Park Service General Management plan was adopted after consulting with the five Native American nations affiliated with Rainbow Bridge: the Navajo, Hopi, San Juan Southern Paiute, Kaibab Paiute, and White Mesa Ute.

Thankfully, we may visit the site today and marvel at this beauty. The National Park Service only asks that you visit in a manner respectful of its significance as a cherished and sacred site.
