These bees were the stars of the show today. 🐝 We visited 100 kindergarteners in Yarmouth to share the honey bee life cycle and give them a look inside our observation hives. No classroom photos for privacy — just the VIPs from the visit. 💛

How to get funny looks at Costco. 🛒🐝

Step 1: Load 600 pounds of sugar onto a cart.

Step 2: Wait for someone to ask what you’re baking.

Step 3: Explain that you’re feeding bees. 😂

Nope, we’re not opening a bakery. Just getting our honey bees ready for another long Maine winter.

After a dry summer and challenging forage conditions, making sure our colonies have enough food going into winter feels especially important this year.

600 pounds of sugar, a whole lot of syrup, and a big part of fall beekeeping prep.

Just another day in the life of a beekeeper! 🍯🐝

A very busy day in the bee yard. 🐝

Before we can bring honey supers in for extraction, we need to separate the bees from the honey. Sometimes they make it pretty clear they have other ideas.

This is one of those moments that gives you an idea just how many bees are working inside a strong colony.

And yes… we eventually got the supers. 🍯

One of our favorite sounds of honey harvest — uncapping a frame of fresh honey before it heads to the extractor.

There’s something pretty satisfying about watching that layer of wax come away and seeing the honey underneath.
