A few month back my good friend let me play an amplifier he had in his possession - a really good clone of a Trainwreck Express. For those who don’t know, Trainwrecks are the amplifiers of rock and roll myth and legend. Originals are impossible to find and only available to people who can afford the $50K+ price tag. I’ve never played a real wreck, and this was just a clone. Needless to say, I was blown away by the amplifiers tone, dynamic feel, and its ability to go from clean to mean with just a turn of the guitar volume k**b. I knew I had to build one! A few months later, here we are and I’m very happy with the results! Now it’s time to call upon to help with a cabinet made of curly cherry.

Went to see my friend Lynn Wheelwright at the Pro Musician today. He was kind enough to let my play this blackguard through a 1950 Fender Pro. Glorious tone! One of the most resonant guitars I’ve ever played. If you know Lynn you know he owns some really cool guitars and amplifiers.

Here’s an old homemade tool box converted to a LM386 9v battery powered amp. The tool box spent years on a farm as a catch-it-all box for repairing farm equipment. Long ago it was named “The Magic Box”. It’s for my good friend Zach Tanner, if you know Zach you know what a selfless person he is, and a master at fixing and repurposing things. A good example to live by.
