Rush orders are both stressful and exhilarating. Once I’m done I feel like I pulled off a tiny little miracle.

I was asked if I could do a team order at 1 pm on Monday. 14 unique designs, needed by 4 pm on Thursday, and I don’t have the materials in stock. As a bonus complication, Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest days of my family life and I was only 1/4 of the way through my coaster orders that I also committed to having complete that day. Not having enough drama in my life, I said yes.

Once all the lasering is done, I begin the cleaning process of removing the soot the powder coat leaves behind after being burned off. Wiping off that layer and revealing the perfect, shiny design underneath for the first time gives me the most satisfying feeling. Also, relief.

Tiny miracle accomplished with 21 hours to spare. The job is done. Drying, photographing, and repackaging are anxiety-free afterthoughts.
