First attempt at a headboard.

A while back I picked up multiple pieces of tongue and groove blue pine from the cull bin at our local Home Depot.

When my wife asked me to make a headboard for one of our beds I decided the blue pine would be perfect for the job. The tongue and groove pieces were all 8’ long but I only needed 60” so that allowed me to be selective in my cuts. I was able to remove the damaged edges that caused the blue pine to be on the cull cart in the first place.

After putting the headboard together, the headboard was sanded and finished with Danish oil and furniture wax…..

Our local Home Depot had a bunch of lumber they were going to crush, I picked up 78 pieces of 4.5" x 8' lumber for a whooping $5.00. When I found out the Home Depot was having a safety day with our local Fire and Police Departments, I made a couple of distressed flags for the Home Depot employees to sign.

A couple of Halloween projects. The Mummy was real tough, a cedar fence board, a couple of arms cut with the bandsaw and a nail gun to attach the arms to the body. The wand is for our 10 year old grandson. He's going to be Harry Potter for Halloween so of course Papa had to make him a custom wand of his own.

This week I had the opportunity and honor to make three Mezuza's for a newlywed Jewish couple

A Mezuza is a small case that resided the newlywed couple's doorpost and contains a piece of parchment inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). In this case the decorative case is made from Myrtle and includes a small container cove on the front for a glass vial which will contain shards of glass from the wedding ceremony. The parchment scroll will reside in a small hole routed into the back of the Mezuza, which is covered by a door. The Mezuza also has the letter "Shin" burned into it which I accomplished freehand.

Some dice towers I made. The towers were made from scrap I had out in my garage. The towers are made from milled red oak and mahogany. The trays are milled poplar with a hobby foam for the dice to roll out on. The towers are decorated with Star Wars symbols that were burned into the wood with a wood burner. One is a Sith snake and one is a Bantha skull.
