Active Shooter Event Twin Falls ID.
First let me say our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
While many issues exist in the Twin Falls In N Out burger joint…. I applaud the bravery of all those that attempted to intervene and stop the suspect….
One issue that stood out to me was two off duty officers, neither had an effective way to identify themselves during a critical incident…. to all current and retired officers…think about that…do you have a clearly visible way to identify yourself in a critical situation?
One officer (not clear whether he’s a current officer or not) didn’t draw his pistol immediately in fear of being misidentified….and was injured by the suspect (shot in the arm)….then drew his pistol but wasn’t carrying with a round chambered and being injured in one arm wasn’t able to chamber a round…but that’s a whole other discussion…..
If there was only a universal way to identify plainclothes/off duty officers during critical incidents…hmmm.
If any one of my friends know these two heroes they can reach out to me and I’ll get a DSM Safety Banner to them.
