The tiller has been fixed so it was time to get a little dirt under my nails 👏🏻👏🏻

Tilled, sowed a few rows of cover crop, planted a tiny bit before losing daylight.

I brought 3 trays with me like a maniac and didn't even plant out half of one 😆 looks like I'll be back this weekend!

BAPTISIA 💜
She's gorgeous, she's native, and she's toxic to deer and rabbits so she stays! She's full of history and importance, and I am so happy to take my 7 or so plants and have maybe 100 babies now 💜💜💜

Also called False Indigo because it was an accessible alternative for dye, it's a beautiful color both in its greens and blossoms, and I'm obsessed with all its shapes and transformations throughout the year.

And the plants at the property we sold in North Carolina made seeds for me before we left (!!), and here are those new seedlings here with us in Knoxville 🥹 ready for their new home here.

Look for them in bouquets in the coming years, and hopefully enough seeds for me to start seedlings to sell for everyone else to plant 👏🏻💘

Almost!!! My beloved tiller didn't start even with a new spark plug, so my friend is graciously taking it in Monday to be fixed 👏🏻

so maybe next weekend I'll get to tilling and these beautiful chicory and bachelor buttons etc can have a home in the ground 🌱

So thankful for the weather in Knoxville that's basically like a greenhouse outside, if not for me at least for the plants 😆

Y'allllll WE ARE ON OUR WAY! 🌞
These babies were planted right when the moon said to, and they came up in 2.5 days and are thriving in this Knoxville weather ⛈️

Next up, I'm tilling!

Planting more babies right now, sowing Johnny's Fall Green Manure Mix before I move anything into the garden to give it the easiest transition...

and doing it all from an apartment with the help of a friend 💛

Because we make the best of everything around here

What might've been intimidating years ago feels like a fun challenge now 🐞

Starting thousands of seeds from an apartment?!
What am I, crazy?

Planting on someone else's property to sell next year?

Not having access to the gardens right outside my front door, no irrigation set up, no landscape fabric for weeds, unfamiliar with the flows of the seasons temp-wise, not having any customers yet...

That's right.
Let's get it 🔥

Oooh y'all I hit the jackpot saving seeds this last year. I will not be able to contain my excitement much longer and I'll be seeding babies so soon 🥹

I feel like I'm about to be rewarded with longer seasons and less harsh winters here in Knoxville that will make next spring EXCEPTIONAL 🐞

These are bupluerum seeds! To know this plant with gorgeous greens is to love her. This is green gold 😛You'll see what I mean

!!!! Made a quick trip to Sparta for my garden things and came back with herbs galore 🩶🩶🩶

The house has sold! Now I've got my tiller in Knoxville and my laundry room smells amazing.

Shovel, hoe, bins and bins of saved seeds. Soil blockers. Hand dibbler, sharp scissors and twine. 7 years of practice. Hunger. New favorites to grow and a new town to grow in.

A blank canvas and a friend's acre to start me off 👏🏼

It's so magical to be here.

And to see how it's blossomed since I've been gone is thrilling.

Viewing it through the eyes of a mom and a small business owner... everything feels possible and welcomed.

A focus on creating new green spaces and expanding access to the outdoors and- a personal favorite- seeing wildflowers intentionally planted to maintain park spaces as habitat- is so inspiring.

Guess what? An old college friend has GRACIOUSLY given me an acre to grow on!!!

Y'all. It didn't work out for our buyer in another state to get the house 😣

I know the right people will find it and be so glad it fell through with someone else, but I'm still sad because we like them so much!

So not packing for Knoxville quite yet but soon 🫶🏼
