Today kicks off marching band competition season here in South Carolina!

After months of rehearsals, long days, and a whole lot of hard work, bands across the state are taking the field and beginning their competition season.

What a great day for music in Greenville County!

Tomorrow at 4 PM, all 15 Greenville County high school marching bands will come together at Mauldin High for the Greenville County Schools Annual Marching Band Exhibition.

And if you’ve never seen more than 1,200 student musicians on the field together performing America the Beautiful, that sounds like a pretty great reason to go.

Admission is FREE, so make plans to come out and enjoy an afternoon of music while supporting these young musicians and their programs.

We hope all of the students, band directors, staff, volunteers, families, and everyone attending have a fantastic afternoon!

Patriot Day | September 11

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the ordinary Americans who stepped forward to help, and the families whose lives were forever changed that day.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember. 🙏

Happy Labor Day from Roper Music!

Music is a whole lot of fun, but there’s plenty of work behind it, too.

From the students putting in hours of practice, to the teachers and directors helping them get better, to the musicians working on their craft, and all the people behind the scenes who keep instruments playing and music happening, today seems like a pretty good day to appreciate the work that goes into the music we love.

We hope you get a chance to put the work aside today and enjoy the holiday with family and friends.

You never know what might spark a kid’s interest in music.

A few weeks ago, we received a message from an aunt who stopped by Roper Music with her nephew after their original plans for the day didn’t work out.

While they were here, one of our guys took a little time with him and gave him a chance to experience the drums.

His aunt later wrote to tell us that he couldn’t stop talking about it.

We love hearing things like that.

We’re obviously here to sell instruments, rent instruments, make repairs, and teach lessons. But we’re also Your Local Music Store, and sometimes that means getting to be a small part of the moment when a young person discovers something about music that lights them up.

Thanks to his aunt for taking the time to tell us about it. You made our day, too.
