Today was one of those days.

And I’m not going to lie… it was a long one. So, this post is a long one. 😂

The Rally brings SO many people to Spearfish. The streets are full, there are motorcycles everywhere, and our little town is buzzing. But for some local businesses, it can also be a really challenging time.

There’s lots of traffic, but sometimes not a lot of foot traffic. And when the motorcycles take up all the parking spots in front of your store for hours, it can be hard not to get a little frustrated.

Today, I felt ALL the feelings. 😂

11:00 — annoyed
12:00 — feeling really irritated
1:00 — borderline pi**ed 🫣
2:30 — watching all the parking spots filled with bikes, but the store empty… furious. 😡

And honestly, those negative thoughts started firing off. Why are we even open? Is anyone coming in? What are we doing wrong?

Then, God reminded me why I’m here.

Why did we buy Real Deals? Sure, Breanna and I thought it would be fun to take on this adventure together. But, I remember specifically praying that God would allow this store to be a place where people in our community could come in, shop a little, relax, and most importantly, feel seen.

I’m sure we haven’t always gotten that perfect. But it’s something we keep striving for.

Because we aren’t here just to sell more stuff that, let’s be honest, most of you probably don’t actually need. 😂

Maybe we’re here to give you a little retail therapy.

Maybe we’re here to make you smile.

Maybe we’re here to have a quick conversation with someone who just needed a friendly face that day.

And maybe, just maybe, we’re here to be a tiny part of what makes our community special. That includes being kind and welcoming to those folks that come from outside our community! My bad. 😞

To all of our fellow local business owners who are feeling the highs and lows of Rally week—we see you. We’re in it with you.

Who else felt that little chill in the air the last couple of nights? 🍂 It may still be summer, but fall is definitely starting to make its presence known!

One thing we keep hearing from customers is, “Fall is such a short season before Christmas decorations go up, so I want to enjoy it as long as I can!”
