Where were you when the world stopped turning?

I remember every detail of September 11, 2001.

I was living with my sister in Goldfield, Iowa. I was pregnant with my twins and had just come back into the living room after dealing with morning sickness. My daughter was at school.

I sat down on the couch just in time to see the second plane hit.

And I didn’t move.

I remember the old lime-green carpet in the living room. I remember how sunny it was that day. I remember seeing the people in the building… I remember being glued to the TV, trying to comprehend what I was actually seeing.

It was one of the most horrible things I have ever watched, and we were all watching it happen…live.

25 years later, I can still see that room. I can still see that lime-green carpet. I can still see the people in the tower… I can still remember exactly how I felt.

September 11, 2001.
