The frost is on the pumpkin.

Sunday morning we had frost on many plants and flowers around the farm. While ultimately damaging to the plant, the frost crystals in the mid morning sun were still beautiful.

What a beautiful Saturday! This is our second to last weekend at the farm. Join us for:

Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins in the Pumpkin Patch (All medium and large pumpkins in the patch are $6, smalls are $4, pies are $2.50)

This weekend at the farm - join us for U-Pick Pumpkins and Flowers! Special this weekend (Friday and Saturday), we will be supporting the Owen County Dolly Parton Imagination Library. If you don't know, the Imagination Library provides books once a month to children in our community for free through age 5.

Today and tomorrow, we will donate a portion of every purchase from the Flower Field and Pumpkin Patch towards the Imagination Library Fund at the Owen County Community Foundation.

On a related note: we love to read around here and we've been sorely missing our Little Free Library Box since we took it down for repairs. Good news! We've built a new box and that will get installed on the porch on Saturday.

We hope to see you at the farm this weekend! In addition to the Pick-Your-Own options we have:

Mums - 9", 12", and Baskets
Pumpkins on the Porch - Jacks, Pies, Minis, Oddball, and more!
Winter Squash - Acorn, Spaghetti, Butternut, and more!
Succulents - Buy One, Get One Free!
Pears
Peppers
Tomatoes (getting to the last of the season for homegrown)
Ornamental Corn
Perennials (50% off)
And more!

And just a heads up - this is possibly the last weekend for the Flower Field, we will reassess the field after the weekend and see how it's holding up. Future Flower Field days will be TBD.

Winter squash on hand: acorn, butternut, carnival, spaghetti, delicata, and sweet dumpling.

Make it into a delicious fall recipe. My favorite is acorn squash. I like to cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, bake then cut side with a dab of butter and spoonful of brown sugar in each half. Baking temp: 350 for approximately 45 minutes until easy to stick a fork in it.
