Fall is for planting! Did you know that fall is great time for planting perennials? Planting in the fall gives the plants time to grow their roots deep in the soil without the threat of impending summer heat. Plants can benefit from warm soil temperatures combined with less stress from high temperatures. The pest and w**d pressure is also usually less in the fall too.

Check out our fresh selection of perennials—lots of echinaceas, Shasta daisies, rudbeckia, and more!

This week’s Summer Special? Vinca! Through Saturday they are Buy One, Get One Free in 4.5” pots.

It’s a bit of a running joke around here that we recommend vinca for everything. Need something drought tolerant? Vinca! Need something that holds up to the summer heat? Vinca! Need a pretty trailing plant that’s not a petunia? Vinca!

It really is a favorite of ours and will keep blooming until the first frost.

Check out this glow up! We shared a pic of this flowerbed earlier in the season, but wowza has it really come into it's own now! Plus the great fun is that every time you walk by it it comes alive with butterflies and bees.

We've been busy this week bringing our summer flower crops up to the front tables. I love the ornamental peppers for a nice bright pop of color in the fall. We have two varieties this year: Chili Chile and Black Pearl. Great in full sun. The only downside? They're ornamental, not edible.

Tomato update! I know we've had lots of call lately for canning tomatoes. And usually this is the time of the year we're starting to fill orders. This year, because of cold weather in early May and then rain at inopportune times during the planting season our tomatoes were planted pretty late. So while we're starting to get some homegrown tomatoes, we're still waiting on the bulk of our harvest. Hold tight a little longer. If you're on our Notify List for tomatoes, we'll be in touch hopefully in the next few weeks or so. If you'd like to be on our Notify List where we email or call you once there's bulk amounts available, sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc_SR7yw0-G9-1_0exlO_OP9hn0OpClt_ziPP2z1CBOykZOvQ/viewform
